What is community acupuncture?
Michigan Community Acupuncture is part of the growing Community Acupuncture movement, which is committed to a vision of affordable, accessible acupuncture for everyone.
At Michigan Community Acupuncture, which is located inside the Sanctuary Chiropractic and Wellness Spa, we have a number of reclining chairs, and massage tables in a large, comfortable room filled with people quietly relaxing, or napping during their acupuncture treatment.
Are there benefits to having acupuncture in a community setting?
The most obvious benefit is the much lower cost, but treating patients this way has other benefits: family members and friends can come in together for treatment; many patients find that it decreases the sense of isolation that often comes with illness; and a feeling of “collective healing energy” happens which makes individual treatments more powerful. What about clothing? There is no need to disrobe, many of the strongest acupoints on the body are located on the arms, legs, and ears. In some cases acupoints on the back may be used, massage tables are available if these points are are indicated.
Is there a catch, or hidden fees? No, you pay what you feel you can afford along the scale, period. Our goal is for everyone to be able to afford the care they need.
How many treatments will I need? Most conditions can be resolved within 6-20 treatment sessions, acute injuries can respond even more quickly. Chronic long term issues tend to take more time. Generally 1-3 visits per week is recommended for the best results. The more often you come in, the faster you will see improvements.
Is the clinic a non profit? No, the clinic is not charity, we are solely supported by our community of patients. We are able to keep our treatment fees much lower than average by seeing a high volume of patients. We deeply appreciate and need your referrals, please spread the word about the clinic, and the benefits of community acupuncture.
